Samsung’s Galaxy J1 (2016) smartphone made a brief appearance at one of the company’s physical retail partners in Dubai back in January. The company however made no announcement regarding the launch at that time.
Samsung has now made the Galaxy J1 (2016) official in Russia. The smartphone has been listed on the company’s site without pricing and availability details. In January, the physical retailer had suggested a price tag of AED 499 (roughly Rs. 9,000) though we can expect that to change considering current market conditions as well as currency exchange rates.
The official listing of the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) comes hours after the Samsung Galaxy J1 mini waslisted on the company’s Philippines site. Just like the Galaxy J1 (2016), there was no word on the specifications and pricing of the Galaxy J1 mini.
For specifications, Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) features a 4.5-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) Super Amoled display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz clubbed with 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB of inbuilt storage and the handset supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Galaxy J1 (2016) supports dual-SIM cards (both Micro-SIM). It sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and also houses a 2-megapixel front camera. The handset measures 132.6×69.3×8.9mm and weighs 131 grams. It supports 4G LTE, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and Micro-USB connectivity options. The handset is backed by a 2050mAh battery. The Galaxy J1 (2016) will be available in Black, Gold, and White colours.
