Six new IITs will come up at Tirupati, Palakkad, Dharwar, Bhilai, Goa and Jammu whilst ISM Dhanbad will also be upgraded to an IIT.
The Union cabinet which met these days gave its ex put up facto approval to amend The Institutes ofgeneration Act, 1961 for incorporation of recent IITs at Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Palakkad (Kerala), Dharwar (Karnataka), Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Goa, Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) and conversion of Indianfaculty of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad to an IIT below the regulation.
“The approval will convey six new Indian Institutes of generation inside the ambit of The Institutes ofgeneration Act, 1961 and declaring them as the establishments of country wide importance,” anreputable announcement stated in New Delhi.
The amendment may even help convert ISM, Dhanbad into an IIT via bringing it into the ambit of the Institutes of era Act, 1961.
