When Jen Atkin isn’t setting red carpet hair trends on celebrities like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber, the celebrity hairstylist is setting product trends through her best-selling haircare line Ouai. She also tapes weekly YouTube vlogs, works with Dyson, and runs a website called Mane Addicts. In the midst of all her entrepreneurial jobs, Atkin also just moved in to a new home in Los Angeles and invited BAZAAR along to see her just-finished glam room. In this episode of Beauty Stash, Atkin shows BAZAAR’s Beauty Director Jenna Rosenstein all her favorite hair, makeup, and skin products.
Atkin tapped two people to help bring her glam room to life: Her husband Mike Rosenthal and luxury home organizer Ría Safford. Rosenthal is a renowned photographer and director and built a professional Youube studio set-up for Atkin to film tutorials. To organize Atkin’s extensive collection of beauty products, Safford stashed all her makeup into easy-to-see drawers and all the skincare, haircare, and fragrance in color-coordinated shelves in a closet.
The aforementioned shelves are stuffed with every best-selling product in the beauty space right now: Glossier face wash, Dr. Barbara Sturm serums, KKW fragrances, Gisou hair products, Kylie Skin face wash, plus products from Mario Badescu, Kai, Herbivore Botanicals, Drunk Elephant, and more. Atkin notes that she buys probably half of what’s in the closet in an effort to support her friends and other female entrepreneurs.
Of course, there are Ouai products sprinkled almost everywhere you look in Atkin’s glam room. The hairstylist dropped the news that Ouai perfumes Melrose Place and North Bondi are coming back for good to Sephora. She also let Rosenstein sample a few top-secret Ouai products coming out before the end of the year. “Our Wave Spray is one of our hero products, it’s been so amazing to watch people use it and love it. It doesn’t have an alcohol in it so it doesn’t dry your hair out,” Atkin says.
Atkin’s Tip: “It’s really good to use a wave spray not just for beachy waves but also for a blow-out. It just gives your hair body and life.”
The most envy-inducing area of Atkin’s beauty stash is her drawer full of Dyson blowdryers and the internet-breaking Air Wrap styler. “I blow through my hair with this thing in six minutes,” Atkin says of the Air Wrap. If that’s not reason enough to buy one, we don’t know what is.
