The ‘City of Seven Islands’ or what is also known as ‘Sapno ki Mayanagri’, Mumbai is definitely the economic capital of India, but many of us are not aware that it is also the ‘Street-food capital of India’. The culinary culture and climatic condition of the city provides a lot of scope to explore flavours that we often miss in the North. Bhel Puri and Sev Puri
‘Jhal Muri’ has a close cousin in the South called Bhel Puri’. Made with puffed rice, boiled potatoes, onions, tomatoes, green chutney, tamarind chutney and sev, this simple snack is generally served in a paper cone near all the beaches of the city.

Your visit to this city is incomplete without relishing the street side Pav Bhaji. Considered as a wholesome meal, this platter includes spicy aloo-tomato gravy cooked in special masala that is served with pan-fried pav, green chutney and lots of sliced onions.

Available at every nook and corner of the city, this snack dish includes a spicy gravy of moth beans topped with sev or namkeen, onion, and fresh coriander leaves, that is served with pan-fried pav loaded with semi-melted butter.

Made in two parts, this mouth-watering dish of Mumbai has a long history. While Ragda is prepared with white chana, onion, tomato, and spices, Pattice is made with boiled potatoes. The seamless amalgamation of peas and potatoes is served with sliced onion, fresh coriander leaves, and spicy green chutney.
