MEXICO — The family of 27-year-old Tajuan Williams said they are still in shock after Williams was shot and killed Friday evening in Mexico.
William’s girlfriend said that they were at a kids birthday party that turned deadly when a teenager reached over her and shot him after what police say was an altercation.
“Tajuan was a good guy.. he did everything. Wouldn’t hurt nobody. He just.. everything you need him to do, he would do it,” said Tim Timmons, Williams’ uncle. “Great smile… light up the world.”
Police say they responded to a call regarding a person shot around 5:30 p.m. Friday evening and when they arrived, found Williams with a gunshot would. He was taken to St.Mary’s Hospital-Audrain where he died.
Raven Williams, Tajuan’s cousin said she still does not know how this could have happened to someone who was loved so much. “I just don’t understand why. But only God can answer that,” she said.
Williams said her cousin Tajuan was very family-oriented, loved basketball and was a role model for many bus especially for his girlfriends daughters.
“He stepped up to the plate, being a father figure to her daughters,” she said.
Williams said the strength of their family will get them through this difficult time. “As we are going through a hard time right now, we know he would want us to keep our heads up and stay strong and smile because we know we’re going to get justice for his death and also know that he’s going to be okay,” said WIlliams.
