Facebook feeds are filled with families around Christmas time posing in matching sweaters in a festive setting.

One Aylesford family has used a similar concept for their annual holiday portrait, but they do their photo shoot on a warm autumn day with all four posing in pumpkins.

Mark Norton said the tradition started 7 years ago when his daughter was just 5-months old.

“I figured it would be cool to make an Anne Geddes scene, put her in a pumpkin and that’s where it started,” he told NEWS 95.7’s The Sheldon MacLeod Show.

Mark decided to don a gourd and get in the picture a few years later, his wife Sidney was added last year to make it a family photo, and this year, their newborn son was around to join in on the fun.

The family scoured the Valley to find the biggest pumpkins they could for the photo shoot.

“Mark carves them out and we kind of shimmy our way in,” Sidney said. “We have to cut the back out for Mark and I in order to fit in, but the kids kind of just slide in.”

Following the photo shoot, Mark uploaded the “Family Pumpkin Dunk 2019” album on Facebook yesterday (scroll down to see the post) hoping to get a laugh out of friends and family. To his surprise, the post now has over 140,000 shares.

“Yesterday evening, people started sharing it, 300 shares like every 5 minutes … around 5 or 6 o’clock the number started going through the roof,” Marks said. “My phone is still blowing up. It hasn’t stopped dingling and jingling.”

Mark said most of the feedback has been positive, but there are always a select few online who seem to want to spread misery.

However the family has no plans to stop the annual pumpkin portraits.

“It’s a fun family tradition the kids look forward to,” said Sidney.

“We’re going to do it [next year] regardless of whether there’s one share, no shares or 3 million shares,” Mark added.
