We asked Nika 10 questions in order to get to know her a little more. See what she had to say below and check out our previous Meet the Muse installment with neo-soul singer Snoh Aalegra.
What was your first big gig?
My first big job was when I walked for Philippine Fashion Week. It’s a big fashion event here in Manila. It’s one of the few gigs I will always remember because it was the first time I got to walk down the runway.
What was the thing that first got you interested in fashion?
I think that the difference it makes in every individual person is what made me interested in fashion. It says more about who you are, the character you want to be and who you look up to.
Describe your current style.
I go for simple but eye catching. I could go with a shirt, trousers and sneakers; I want to give an effortless feel. For me, it’s about putting simple things together to make the end result look perfect.
Tell us about your day to day.
I go to university on weekdays, and on weekends, I shoot, model and go to meetings with the founder of Team Streetwear Philippines, Maj Veloso.
Dream collaboration?
Adrianne Ho is the only streetwear model I’ve been following since 2013, so I guess a collaboration with her would be amazing! Oh, I would also love to collaborate with adidas because, well, it’s adidas.
If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live?
Probably San Francisco or Los Angeles because I feel like there’s so much to explore there. Staying in one country limits me into seeing just what is available to me. In line with what I do, I think this would help me meet a lot of creative people doing much more similar things.
Which Emoji best represents you?
Sleep emoji, because I love sleep (who doesn’t).
What’s your motto?
Fuck what everyone thinks about you – do as your heart and mind says as long as you’re not hurting anyone.
What is something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time, but haven’t yet?
Travel around the world. I just want to see what’s out there and be able to learn something from it.
What could you eat every day and not get tired of?
Chawanmushi (Japanese dish). I don’t think anybody would ever get tired of it because it’s the best food God ever created; trust me, you’re missing half your life if you haven’t tried it.
