Punjab convener of the Aam Aadmi Party Sucha Singh Chotepur is likely to face strong action after a video emerged in which he is purportedly seen accepting money from a party volunteer in exchange for tickets. Chotepur, however, said he was merely accepting “party fund” and challenged the AAP to make the clip public to prove that it was corruption, The Indian Express reported.

Chotepur was also reportedly heard discussing AAP MP Bhagwant Mann’s drinking habit in an audio byte. Both clips were part of an undercover operation conducted by leaders of the party’s Punjab unit, according to India Today. In the video, Chotepur is purportedly seen assuring the party volunteer a government office in exchange for money. An AAP leader said said the volunteer gave Chotepur Rs 2 lakh in cash.

A number of AAP leaders refused to make the video public, but they said Chotepur is likely to be replaced in the next few days, as AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was “livid after watching the video”, according to The Indian Express. Despite Chotepur’s clarification to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia that the money was taken as party fund, the AAP Party High Command recommended that action be taken against him as it was against party policies to accept donations in cash.
