Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal recently announced that the Department of School Education and Literacy has developed an online module to identify out-of-school children’s data notified by each state or union territory of the country.
The data of all out-of-school children across the country is being complied with under the Right to Education Act. The out-of-school children will then be brought back to school under RTE, which is also being emphasized under the National Education Policy 2020.
Children’s data to be uploaded online
Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal further mentioned that all the states needed to upload the data regarding students who are out of school through the online portal, as per the instructions issued by the Department of School Education.
He said, “Child-wise information of the identified out-of-school children and STCs must be uploaded at block level under the Block Resource Coordinator. A quarterly progress report and a user manual are shared on the portal.”
In a letter addressed to all the states and UTs, it is written, “A password protected provision is created at the PRABANDH Portal for the District Magistrate/his signatory for every district to view, validate and monitor the information about out of school children.”
After the compilation of data done through the online portal, the Ministry of Education will make provisions to make sure that these children return to school and continue with their studies.
