Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Mi MIX concept smartphone unveiled
Xiaomi on Tuesday took the covers off the Mi Note 2 flagship phablet and unveiled the Mi MIX concept smartphone, along with an ultra-cheap Mi VR headset. Mi Note 2 has a 5.7-inch dual-edge curved display, 3D curved back design, Snapdragon 821 processor, 64GB/ 4GB RAM and 128GB/ 6GB RAM versions, and 4070mAh battery. On the other hand, Mi MIX, a limited edition device, has a 6.4-inch bezel-less display, ceramic body, Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB and 6GB RAM options, and 4400mAh battery.

Reliance Jiomay extend its Welcome Offer, under which all its voice and data services are free, to March 2017; at present, the offer benefits expire on December 31, 2016. WhatsApp for Android starts getting video calling feature
WhatsApp has started rolling out the long-rumoured video calling feature for Android devices. The feature is only available for beta testers at present (from v2.16.316 onwards); it works only if both the caller and the recipient both are beta testers of the app. There is no word yet regarding the timeline for the public rollout of the WhatsApp video calling feature for all users.
iPhone 7 Plus gets portrait mode with iOS 10.1
Apple on Tuesday released the iOS 10.1 update, which brings Portrait Mode (in beta) for the iPhone 7 Plus to create the ‘bokeh’ effect in photos. This mode creates a shallow depth of field effect to sharpen the main object, while blurring the background. Along with the iOS 10.1 update, Apple has also released the macOS 10.12.1, watchOS 3.1, and tvOS 10.0.1 updates.
Google Play Services update brings new features, bug fixes
Google has released version 9.8 of Play Services, which plays a crucial role in improving the Androiduser experience. The new update brings features like improved sign-in features, addition of goals for the Google Fit health app, and hands-free Nearby Messages, among others.
