The holidays are here and if you have been searching for a reason to escape the cold weather, look no further than the Electric Paradise music festival set to take place along the sunny shores of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This one day musical extravaganza is going down on December 22 with a performance by half Dominican sensation Cardi B. To keep the music going, J Balvin, Major Lazer, Wiz Khalifa and so many more will also hit the stage.
This year will be the fourth installment of the up-and-coming event, which will include an epic food lineup and innovative art installations that will instantly blow festival goers away. In short, the experience has come a long way and founder Pablo Pou guarantees there’s plenty more to come. Read through his interview with Forbes on how the event came together and what his plans are for the future.
Isis Briones: Where did you come up with the idea for Electric Paradise?
Pablo Pou: “We dreamed about the Dominican Republic hosting a world class music festival in a paradise location with production levels and a lineup way beyond anything else that has ever happened in the Caribbean. On top of that, we wanted to create a beach festival in Cap Cana that everybody in the world wanted to attend during the holidays.”
IB: Tell us about the importance of booking Dominican artists like Cardi B.
PP: “It is truly a great opportunity. We are proud people and it is an honor to be living in a time that a Dominican artist like Cardi B is headlining not only Electric Paradise, but top festivals around the world. She’s representing our flag and at the same time bringing us new colors. In the end, putting together the best international artists on our stages to enrich the culture is the reason why we do this.”
IB: Have you always wanted to work in music? How did you get into the festival scene?
PP: “We began in the entertainment business 20 years ago when we started producing brand activations, concerts and top electronic dance music shows. We are continuously evolving and music festivals have become the international rising trend that gave us the chance to prove ourselves crafting a world class experience like Electric Paradise.”
