Mumbai: Tata Communication on Monday said that it completed 15 years as a leading global provider of communication.
The company that has a 26% stake of the government of India added that it intends to make internet fit for business on a global scale through the creation of an open infrastructure, partner ecosystem and platforms that enable businesses to harness innovations in areas such as cloud computing, unified communications, the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).
ET had reported in January that Tata Communications plans to expand its LoRa network dedicated solely for Internet of Things to 60 cities by the end of 2017 and to the rest of the country by 2018. The LoRa network is currently functional in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur.
“Today’s milestone is a testament to all the people who have been part of our journey and our collective focus and ability to respond with agility to the world around us,” Vinod Kumar, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Communications said in a statement.
Tata Communications also runs the world’s largest wholly owned subsea fibre cable network — the fifth largest Internet backbone globally — carrying over 25% of the world’s Internet routes.
“Tata Communications has experienced significant growth over the last 15 years, generating $3.2 billion in annual revenue during the last fiscal year with over 70% of this revenue contributed by international geographies,” Pratibha Advani, Chief Finance Officer, Tata Communications, said.
